One of the challenges of our community garden is accessing the location. Our gardens are very walkable and the nearby ramp makes them accessible to cyclists and wheelchairs. However, getting delivered is another story! We found a vendor to deliver to our odd little location. This was possible with the assistance of COV funding. We also sent multiple emails and made phone calls while viewing Google Street View to achieve this.

To limit traffic interruption, My Garden Bag delivered at 7 am sharp on a Saturday morning. Their crane lifted the 1 yard bags over a wall and placed them out of the way.
Garden members, family members, and friends helped out. We shovelled all 5 yards of soil one wheelbarrow at a time. With the soil moved to the garden we filled all 6 new garden boxes. Even the older boxes got topped up with this organic vegetable mix soil! All of this was done with in just a few hours. Extra big thanks go to our community neighbours who kindly lent us wheelbarrows!
With boxes filled, we marked the end of a project that ran just a wee bit long! (Our original timeline ended in October 2024). We look forward to seeing what beautiful produce, flowers and herbs these boxes grow!
